How to take Tramadol

Tramadol tablet is taken by mouth, usually every 4-6 hours as needed. It may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully. Take Tramadol exactly as prescribed. Tramadol can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or for a longer period than your doctor tells you to.

Precautions

Before taking Tramadol tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to Tramadol, codeine or narcotic analgesics. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, dyes, or preservatives. Tell your physician if you have any other medical problems, especially abdominal or stomach conditions, history of alcohol or drug abuse, head injury, kidney disease, liver disease or seizures. If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking Tramadol. Tramadol may make you drowsy so do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. If you are pregnant lady or plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. Tramadol passes into breast milk and may cause unwanted effects in nursing babies. Do not breast-feed while taking this medicine.

Side effects of Tramadol

Some of the less common side effects of Tramadol are dizziness, blurred vision, headache, drowsiness, upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or do not go away.

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the side effects like fast heartbeat, redness, swelling, and itching of the face, numbness or tingling of the hands and feet, difficulty breathing, changes in urination or seizures.

Storage

Store Tramadol away from heat and direct light. Keep Tramadol out of the reach of the children. Do not store Tramadol in the bathroom or in other damp places.
